Obi at the V-E-T
Update: Obi is home again. He finally went pee pee at the V-E-T, and yes he has blood and sediment, but no crystals in his urine. He was given sub-q fluids and an antibiotic and a steroid shot to help him along, and now he is on Buspar for anxiety. (He gets over-stressed around here what with Dorf and G.T. bugging him, and him being a highly sensitive orange cat he is a bit emotional at times.) So, he will be on Buspar during his FLUTD flare-ups, which can be exaggerated by a Herpes flare-up which he is currently having one of those right now as well. So there you go.
Previous post: Our beloved Obi is at the V-E-T. You see, yesterday morning he got up on the bed and pee-pee'd right there on the bed. Well, Paw was all like, "You need to take him to the V-E-T!" And Maw has figured something was bugging Obi anyway since he hasn't been hanging out much with Maw and sitting on her as frequently as normal. So, off Obi went to the V-E-T yesterday afternoon. Well, since it is a huge ride of 5 whole minutes, he went pee pee in the cat carrier, but there was a towel in the carrier. The V-E-T suggested that the next time we have a cat with urinary problems that we leave the towel and just bring the poodin in the crate. Now why didn't we think of that???? So Obi stayed overnight at the V-E-T and STILL HASN'T GONE AGAIN. Duh. Anyway, it is probably another bladder infection. Remember, he is the one that had the perineal urethrostomy done; i.e. leaving him a different "opening" than your typical male cat for previous blockage problems.
So, we are awaiting word on what medicines we need to give the kid once he comes back home.

Gatsbi
Gatsbi had lost almost 3 lbs during her D-I-E-T when all of the regular food bowls were up on the counters and on the dining room table. Only her D-I-E-T food was left down on the floor where she could reach it. Gatsbi can't jump onto tables or counters because of her neurological condition. Well, Bow ended up not being able to jump onto tables or counters earlier this year so the regular foods came down and were left on the floor level so that Bow could reach them again. Well, now Gatsbi has regained her weight and is once more fairly immobile. Such is regular life in a household with 10 cats...

Werdy Wednesday
Well, it rained here. Ok, not like in Florida from Tropical Storm Fay, but it was bad. Our power went out about 6:00am and didn't come back for several hours. G.T. had stayed in the garage overnight because he didn't want to come back inside, so he was terrified by all the thundering and noise outside. And Annie is always scared when there is thundering going on. We recorded 5 inches of rain here at our house since the previous evening, but other people recorded 8 inches very close to us and so there was some flooding going on. We are supposed to get some more rain this afternoon, so we'll see how things progress.

It's Raining!!!
Well, we were all inside this morning when Maw got up. You see, it is raining. Obviously, us poodins aren't too excited by this fact, but we know that Maw ist furry fascinated by the rain. For one thing, it dropped our temperatures a lot. Like into the 80s!!!! And she doesn't need to water the yard!!! Whatever.

Tomorrow is Maw's Purrfday
Ok, tomorrow we are posting the Violet Candles for Sprout and will be lighting candles. But tomorrow is also our Maw's 50th Purrfday. Yup. The big half-century mark. Maw wanted Paw to give her 50 beeyoutiful red roses for her Purrfday. He said not a problem. Maw said, oh yes it is because I don't want them delivered by ProFlowers because I can't arrange 50 flowers in a vase to look proper so these need to come from a real-live florist dealing with real-live flowers. So today the flowers arrived and BOY ARE THEY PURRTY!!! It's in a ginormous vase that would likely make a good cat bed in the near future. Paw also had her 2nd most beeyoutiful flowers put in the arrangement and that would be the Asian Tiger Lily.
Happy Purrfday Tomorrow Maw!!!! (Yes, Maw knows that Madonna also turns 50 tomorrow and yes, Maw knows that Elvis died 31 years ago on her birthday also.) We Luf Our Maw Tons and appreciate efurryting she does for us poodins.

So where is the Yak?
So when some furrybody yaks in the middle of the night, Maw doesn't get up to clean it up anymore. She waits until the morning. Trouble is, you know how when a poodin yaks, it usually comes out in 3 yak-a-roos. So last night, somebody yakked, and Maw knew it was close by. Then they left the immediate area and went and did the additional 2 yak-a-roos. So Maw found the close-by yak-a-roo when she got up. She still hasn't found the additional 2 yak-a-roos. Do you guys do this sort of thing?

Tabby Tuesday
So this is Annie, occupying Maw's desk chair. This has happened frequently over the last few weeks. Don't know why. Makes it difficult for Maw to do any blogging on our behalf if you know what we mean. Yes, that is a beach towel of Winnie the Pooh that Annie is lying upon. All of our furniture is covered with easily washable towels and quilts. I mean, Hello? Oh, and Paw says that Maw is not establishing appropriate boundaries by allowing us to just sit on furniture, or newspapers, or magazines or books that she is using. I mean, Hello???

Ok, So It's Not Cooler Here
Yesterday got up to 102F. That sux. One nice day this week when it was 95F. Ok, we know that for many of you that sounds really hot, but after many days of 100+F degree days, 95F is really nice!!!! Maw says we're still ready to move.
Orinch hasn't been around too much. He doesn't hang much when it's in the 100s. Don't know where he goes. Haven't seen Orinch #2 or Bob lately either.
Jenny is still taking her pills in the pill pockets, which is great news!
That's all for now.

Thankfully it has dropped to the 90s
Yesterday was only 95F here! Whoo hoo! It was so nice and cool outside!!!! We didn't get any rain at our particular domicile from Edouard the Tropical Storm, but the cooler temps were ever so nice.
Reno's eye (yesterday's picture) is permanently scarred from the Herpes virus and won't get better. We considered taking him to the opthamologist but we wouldn't be able to treat him once we got him back home, so that wouldn't work. Since he was in the crazy cat lady's garage in a cage for 11 months, he is more timid and shy than his 2 brothers and sister. He is the first cat that we catch for nail trimming each month because if he finds out what we are doing, then he will hide from us for several weeks. So we catch him first (usually when he is sound asleep) and trim his toes, then we can do everybody else after him. He meows with each toe cut on himself. Poor guy.
So Maw saw the neurologist guy yesterday and he told her there didn't appear to be any sound reason for her stroke. Although Maw still thinks it was this one OTC pill she was taking in addition to her other medications that pushed her over the edge... At any rate, the neurology dude put her on Lipitor to drop her LDL cholesterol by 20 points. And Maw's cholesterol is within range, but he wants her LDL to be down to 80 points. He said with cardiologists, they want the LDL down to 60. Maw is like, well good grief. And he wants Maw to come back in 3 more months to see him again. And he wants Maw to have a complete physical done yearly. And he wants Maw to wait at least another 3 months to have her sinus surgery done. Maw said getting old sux.

Yes, It's Still Hot Here
Yup, it's still hot here. Today it is supposed to be 104F, tomorrow 105F and Monday, 106F. That sux. The heat index is supposed to be around 110F because of the high humidity. That sux.
Jenny is taking her thyroid pills very well in Pill Pockets. Yay!!! This is great news. And she needs them twice a day. Not once a day. Nope. Twice a day. So this is very good news that the pills don't taste and are very tiny.
We think we have a raccoon coming to our outside food bowl at night. In the mornings, the water dish that holds the food bowl (away from the ants) is grungy with food particles, and the food bowl is kinda swiped up with dirty water bits. We know that a possum isn't doing that, so we're figuring on a raccoon.
That's all for now.
