Thanks to Efurrybody

Maw wants to thank everyone for dropping by to wish their best on her recovery. She appreciates everyones' concern and your purrs and purrayers. We'll keep efurryone updated on her progress.

We have finally updated the Ham-Mick web post to indicate which current patterns we have available. Obi was not in the mood for picture taking today. We can purchase additional colors too, so just ask for what you would like.

Where We Have Been

So Maw went to the doctor again this week because her speech has been messed up since mid-May when her sinus infection was really bad. Her words aren't correct and sometimes they aren't proper in the sentence. We've left a few postings, and we've tried to leave some messages here and there but the words aren't always correct and Maw has had a very hard time with this process. So the doctor tells Maw that her ears and nose are clear and that she doesn't have a sinus infection, but he wants her to get a CT scan to see if anything is messed up. So she gets the CT scan on Wednesday, and his nurse calls her the same day to get her to have an MRI scan done, so she gets that done on Thursday and then the nurse calls and asks her to come in on Friday to see the doctor and Maw has no idea what is going on and starts looking up various problems on the internet and has no idea what is wrong other than the sinus infection is still there and she knows it is.

The doctor told Maw that she had a subacute stroke and that although she wasn't experiencing the various neurological signs of it, that indeed they needed to figure out why she had one at such a "young" age. So Maw doesn't turn 50 until August of this year, and she needs to go see a neurologist, and also get some extra tests done before seeing him and try to figure out why she had a stroke at a "younger" age. Maw read on the internet last night that people who have had strokes tend to have more of them. Loverly.

Oh, and yes, she still has the sinus infection inside her maxillary sinus passages on the right side and so she also needs to go see her ENT doctor again too. The CT scan showed that problem nicely. She's had sinus surgery on that side 10 years ago and it lasted fairly well for 10 years.

So, yes, we're still around and we drop in on blogs and read what is going on. We're doing Ham-Micks and Maw seriously needs to update the site and show other colors that we have. Bow is getting his medicines, and G.T. got his shots yesterday. The house is a total disaster, and we have a ton of way too many tomatoes this time of year because of the heat wave we've had so far this summer. But we're still here.

Viralys

Today we will tell you about L-lysine from yesterday's post. It is an amino acid that combats arginine. Many people purchase L-lysine at the drug store or WalMart and grind up the people tablets which is totally fine. But for Maw, her left hand has the arthritically messed up thumb bone and is susceptible to daily grinding and other means of messing it up royally. So, she is purchasing the already ground up Viralys to put in our food daily. It has a fishy smell, which when newly opened can be a teensy weensy bit offensive to Maw for well, like several months. So anyway, the L-lysine is known for stopping arginine from reproducing during our rhinotracheitis virus, or Feline Herpes 1 virus and stops us from shedding the virus to all the other cats in the household.

Orinch Outside

This is a good picture of Orinch outside, looking in at all of us. Bob also comes around, although not as frequently as Orinch. We think Bob might actually have another home, but we figure Orinch probably doesn't have another home and proclaims our place home.

Troublesome Tuesdays and Such

Today is Tuesday. Bow and G.T. went to the V-E-T on Thursday last week to check into their ailments and such. Bow has been on his daily prednisolone, and also has added an antidepressant to help with his appetite, and has added Calcitriol to help with his fluids. He is also getting 100mg of fluids with Vitamin B complex and keratin every other day. His creatine and BUN levels are steadily increasing though. He goes from his heated cat bed to his hammock several times per day, and also spends quite a while outside in the enclosure.

G.T. has a wound from his benadryl shot. The V-E-T shaved it and told me to keep it semi-moist and cleaned up, what with G.T. licking it, etc. He isn't overly enthused with me putting gentomycin on it. It is kinda gross looking, looks like an abscess. Yuck.

In other noos, Maw has been sick for several weeks with a bad sinus infection and has been on 2 different rounds of antibiotics. We aren't thrilled with this, but can't help it much. She has been sick and in bed quite a bit of the time which makes it difficult for us to computate to each of you!

We're hoping that the correct Ham-Micks are making it to the appropriate people!!! We've sent out quite a few, and are hoping that they are getting where they are supposed to go!

We'll try and keep y'all updated as life progresses around here.
