Gatsbi didn't lose additional weight while on the Glipizide, but her levels didn't decrease enough so that she could remain on an oral medication. So now she is on Lantus. Hopefully we can just inject her once daily. The V-E-T says that most of his patients do very well this way.

Luf, Us
Our boy (age 21 type 1 diabetic for 11 years) takes Lantus and it works very well. A new generation insulin, works for 24 hours, much improvement over the old kinds that you took several times a day and experienced highs & lows from it.
ReplyDeleteWe hope she will start feeling much better soon! SSS & Mom
We are purring for Gatsbi that the daily injections will make her feel better and keep her diabetes under control.

Purrs to you Gatsbi on needing shots now. Hope you will be doing ok on this.
ReplyDeleteI had a labrador who was diabetic. I had to test her and adjust the insulin. Giving the actual injection wasn't near as difficult as figuring out how much to give.
ReplyDeleteBut a cat... I'm not so sure about giving a cat an injection!
We are sorry that you have to be shot instead of having the oral medicine. But if that will help you be better than it's the best. We purrs and prays that you are doing better now. We have those gorgeous slip covers all over the furniture too. Mom thought the fireplace was gorgous with it's Christmas decorations.
