Hi, I'm back. I know you all have been waiting
anxiously to hear about my leg. Yes, I broke it. In 3 places! The V-E-T was quite impressed and very baffled because cats don't usually break parts. We are more graceful than woofies, who break parts a LOT.
So, here's what happened. I was being my usual self. Racing from one end of the house to the other, up and down cat trees, across the tops of furniture, flying through the air with the greatest of ease. So I raced to the top of the cat tree next to the china hutch and took my usual leap to the top of the hutch. But I missed. Maw was at her 'puter and heard a "kathunk," "CRASH." Then all was quiet. After a little while, I limped over to one of the beds next to the 'puter and lay down. Maw looked at me and my leg was already swollen and I was trembling.
Maw, never one to get overexcited in an emergency, jumped up and examined my leg and immediately called our V-E-T and said we were on our way in.
They took x-rays and all that and put a splint on my leg. Told my Maw to keep me quiet and not let me do any running around. Yeah, right. Well, actually, I wasn't feeling so hot, so I didn't run around for a few days. Plus, I had to get used to walking with this splint on me that was longer than my leg. It was kinda slippery on the end too. Not like my little toe pads that grip shiny surfaces like little rubber suction cups (sometimes). But I was back to climbing the cat trees even with my splint. Not a problem for me!! I have lots of upper body strength.
I had to go in and have x-rays done at 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks to see how my bones were healing. Finally, after 12 weeks of wearing a splint, I was free again. It took me a couple of days, but I learned how to use that leg again real quick, and was leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Ok, tall cat trees.
Yes, poodies can break bones. I did. And ain't my pictshur just way too adorable? Maw has it on her coffee mug.

Oh my goodness! GT! I have never seen a cat with a cast before. That is a good lesson to learn, because I like to get up in very high places. I will be more careful from now on. I am sorry you hurted yerself, but you looked pretty cute in the cast.
Broked in 3 places? Wow, you really crashed landed there. As mum readed this she looked around to see if I could get that high up on stuff. Guess not or I would have found it by now.
Sometimes when kitties get broken they have been run over, not from crash landing. Glad you got better.
That must have been an interesting sight, you climbing the cat tree with a cast on your leg.
We will haf to be keerfull when we are running around like mad fings cuz we don't want to haf a cast. Last yeer owr mum broked her leg in 7 places an wuzn't allowd to moov arownd. What a cute picture, I am glad to know that cats can have broken limbs fixed, just in case something happens to our cats.
I can't believe you could still climb a cat tree with a splint on your leg - wow!
And, yes, your picture's adorable!
Oh poor GT! But you sound like quite the adventurous cat. And sounds like it all turned out well and now you have a very cool story to tell.
We love the little paw-prints on your cast. So adorable.

Ohh my! That must have been very scary, breaking your leg. You must have landed very hard to break it in three places.
I'm so glad that you leg healed up fine and you were able to use the leg again quickly!
It is a great picture.
Wow! That is quite a story. I had to have leg x-rays too because I was lame but it turns out my femur was infected with bad bacteria. Quite baffling and I had to have a bone biopsy. It sucks when they all know you by name doesn't it?

wow wow wow!!! That sounds so scary! I am very impressed that your mammacat is so cool-headed! That is indeed a priceless picture!
Be careful liddle puddin!
Awww so glad to hear your better now and that is one adorable picture! I'm adding your blog to my list so I can check up on the many many adventures at your home. My kitties only total 16 paws! :)
I'm going to have to take that under consideration...I love to jump...but don't want to end up in the hospital...
oh oh oh, poor GT! Even though you're all better now, I'm sending headbutts and purrs for all you went through. Yes, your pikshure is soooo adorable. Mommy is going to look around the house when she gets home to make sure I won't do the same thing. It's good you warned us, we have a hutch too. I haven't tried to get to the tippy top, but mommy thinks I could from the table.
Take care!!!!!
That sounds horrible! We hope you're feeling better now and that it don't hurt too much. And that the cast doesn't drive you crazy! Did everyone sign their names on it? -- Alberta, Sky, Blackie, Charlie and Maggie Fu
Gosh, we're relieved that your leg story has a happy ending! We've heard of broken legs before, but they're usually the result of tragic car accidents.

P.S. We look a little alike. Tabbies rule!
