The First Time

Dorf was getting on Maw's last nerve the other day by picking on Obi & Reno, so she just opened up the window to our new cat enclosure and let us go exploring. It still needs some finishing work, like a padlock on the gate, some more wood under one part where we might be able to squeeze out if we really tried, the shelves need to be attached, and Maw needs to put us a drinking device out there, so that we can drink day old outside-influenced water. Oh, and of course, the cat flap needs to be installed in the new window.

Maw has found numerous window-fitting cat flaps and even one site that custom makes them to your exact window dimensions (which is kinda pricey). So, Maw figures she would check with the people who installed her new windows to see if they could custom make a window that she could just replace the current bottom sash with a cat flap custom made window. The salesperson didn't comprehend so Maw got frustrated. So we'll probably just let Paw custom make a wooden insert with the cat flap installed in it. It ain't pretty, but we don't care. We just wanna go OUTSIDE!!!!!

And guess what? On the outskirts of our town, there have been honest to goodness not lying if I'm dying COUGAR sitings. So people who moved out to the country to get away from the city life are all freaked out because well duh, nature is in their backyards. Hello????? Just another reason to not let your cats roam free. The cougar is only about 80-90 lbs. they are guesstimating at this time, but a poodin would make a very nice lunch.

Hooray, hooray, hooray for you getting to test out your new enclosure for the first time! What fun and excitement. And I am very glad you are safe from the cougar.

That is so beautiful. You all look so very happy and I'm happy for you!

Stay away from that cougar! Maybe you could like, slip him some stinky goodness and he could be your body guard against mean beans....

Enjoy your new play enclosure and good luck to your mommy with the window.

It seems so strange to me to see cats in an enclosure like animals in a zoo. I have never seen that here in Europe where all cats run free wherever they want to. But of course it depends where you live and if there are dangers it is nice that at least you can go outside. My Arthur and Kim would get mad as inside cats ! They are really not made for it. The others don't care. It is a very nice enclosure you cats are lucky !!

Yay! :) I'm so glad you were able to explore your new enclosure. :) Cougars sound very scary. I'm glad I'm an indoor-only cat.

Oh yes... we are very cautious about going outside. Nice new digs, BTW. Will you be able to go in out in out in out in out of the new flap? Make a special request for one that makes a lot of noise!!

Dat looks like fun. Is dat all of yoos outside?

I am an indoor/outdoors cat. We don't have any cougarz in New Zealand only rude neighbour cats.

All kitties should be so lucky. You guys have it made not in the shade, but in the wonderful sunshine.

Fred the Cat has a similar room and he allows me to call it my screened in patio.

Yay for getting to test out the new party house!

We had lotsa cougar sitings in our necka the woods last winter, too - and Not The Mama was afraid for the calico barn kitty (and extra glad that we never ever go outside!).

ps: Dorfie - stop pickin' on e-furry-boddy!

Do you all know how lucky you are??? Your paws were able to touch real grass, your nose sniffed real air. Oh what some of us would do to be a member of your family. Cookie and Jake were on the streets long enough to get used to being out and about. They miss their feral days. They don't understand the danger like the rest of us do. They seem to think that nothing could ever harm them. Anyway, your new enclosure looks great!
