Now, the "over the edge" kids are Sally and Smokey. There is a ginormous litter box in the master bath room that holds a full 40 lbs. of fresh litter after Maw scrubs it out and fills it. Smokey still hangs his hiney over the edge. Actually, he is kinda on the edge, because some gets in the box and some gets out of the box. Sally is sometimes in the box and sometimes out of the box.
Maw doesn't know who annointed her brand new throw rug, because she was taking a bath at the time, and most of us were in the bathroom or huddled around the electric heater when this happened. She figures someone decided the rug still smelled like the store, and it needed to be marked. Of course, Maw doesn't buy anything that can't be thrown in the washing machine, so now it has been properly washed and dried and smells like our house. Plus, we started another new type of D-I-E-T food this week for Gatsbi, so those of us who have been eating some of it might be having a little bit different feeling in our tumblys. And you all know what happens when poodins have a little bit different feeling in their tumblys!
And just so you know, we have 11 litter boxes in the house and garage. So it's not like there weren't clean ones. Maw is meticulous about keeping our boxes scooped, and she never tops off the old litter with fresh. She completely throws out the old litter when it gets about an inch deep, scrubs the box, and fills it with fresh. So we really don't have issues with disgusting facilities. Maw has been in foster homes where there were disgusting facilities and she doesn't approve. She gets that look like the buns have on Disapproving Rabbits.
Just saying....

It sounds like your Maw does an awesome job keeping your litterboxes clean!
I would prefer that all of my poops were done as OLBEs. That is, I prefer to go out into the backyard, dig a hole, do my thing and then bury it. I can dig a much bigger hole outside in the backyard than I can in my litterbox.
If it's raining outside, sometimes I use the planter on the porch, because the dirt in there is dry.
However, when I'm stuck inside, I always use the Litter Box.
HUmph... she would certainly disapprove of ours. We don't get ours scrubbed nearly enough. Sigh. Still they are scooped regularly.
well i must admit i am totally surprised at sally! bless her heart!
and tell mom i did pack sarge's ball powder, wouldn't leave home without it! do y'all use it too! ha ha ha

Poor you. There are six of us felines here and we drive Jan nuts too. She even gave us a huge plastic storage bin for a long time, but finally gave up. Height doesn't matter. She tried the covered ones and they were just too much work for her, lifting off the lid all the time to scoop poop. She tried the short ones with partial tops and we kicked litter all over and ...... So she went out and bought regular large cat pans and said we're on our own.
Jan mentioned your comment about TX getting tough on dogfighting in 2009 to someone in TX and he said TX is already tough, are they going to get tougher? We figure you would know.

Whoa! 11 litter boxes! If I had 11 boxes, I could choose a different box to go in every day. That would be fun.
You all sure keep your mom on her toes!! Our mom thinks that many cats watching her take a bath might be a little creepy. She takes showers behind a glass door, and doesn't mind us in the bathroom.
That's a lot of litterboxes! There are OLBEs at our house sometimes, but we're not telling Momma who does it. And we're not telling her if it happened because we hang our 'tocks over the side, or if it's due to overzealous digging. hee hee
Eleven litterboxes???? Your Maw must be scooping nearly all day.We only have two, but we bofe use the same one.
We has two litter boxes for the four of us, but Momma has the boxes in the room wif her...so she can smell instantly if they needs a scooping. We tend to use one box over the other and it doesn't matter if she moves it or nothing...we always chose the same one. hehe
No OFLBE for us so far, but we is just lulling her into a false sense of security mwuahaha!!!
Just today dad was yelling about Zippy pooping unner da desk in da bedroom and as mom was cleaning dat up Speedy barfed in a couple difrint places in da liffing room. den dad started laffing like a maniac cuz Speedy went in and pooped his runny poop over da side of da litter box and Sadie was scooping litter out of da box covering da poo puddle. Yeah, mom din't think it was funny either.
i hope your tumblies are feeling better now after switching the foods!
