Sunday was G.T.'s allergy shot day. Ever since he had the reaction to his allergy shots in January, he has had to get 12.5mg of Benadryl 1/2 hour prior to his shot. We had to also slowly ramp him back up to 1ml of his shot over a 2 month period. So we managed to surprise him the first 4 times we had to give him the pill. Sunday he was no longer surprised and fought like crazy. He has never been an easy cat to medicate. Even when he was a little kitten and had to receive Albon with the rest of his littermates for coccidia, he hated it. Most kittens don't mind Albon at all. G.T. fought the liquid Albon dose every single day.
So Maw & Paw decided to try and pill G.T. on Monday. Nope. So Maw dumped his butt in the PTU and hauled him off to the V-E-T for help with his pill. Well, G.T. was so terrified that he of course submitted to taking the pill quite easily at the V-E-T. Then Maw brought him home and left him in the carrier until time to inject him.
So Maw bought children's liquid Benadryl to try and fool him next month. Except she will have to give him 5ml of cherry flavored liquid Benadryl, and she doesn't know how much of that is gonna get squirted back out of his mouth as he fights it. Just another day here at the Forty Paws....

Mom always says that there is nothing like rocking and rolling with a kitty and medicine!
Maw, you are an angel here on earth!
♥
I am so glad I don't have to take tons of medicines.
G.T.-take you medicine....I know it is horrible, but it will help you!
Oh no! Poor G.T. We are normally good at taking medicine, but we've never had to take any regularly. We hope the liquid benadryl will get in him!
Ahw man! He has allergies to the allergy shot?! poor little guy!
When my mama lived in Philly, Kitty had to go to the ER at UPenn in the middle of the night - they sent her home with antibiotics in a gel form (little thicker then toothpaste) and she smeared it on his front paws. Kitty instinctually licked it off.
Momma says dat she nefur had to pill any of us and hope hope hopes dat she nefur has to...well Momma we hope hope hopes yu don't hafta to eiffur....

My Mommie said it is very funny how some cats are very easy to pill, and there are always a few that are impossible! Sometimes it's the nicest and most docile cats, too. Thank goodness Pixie will take her daily medicines easily.
Eric turns into a furroshus maneating tiger if he has to have a pill. Mum injects him instead and he duzn't mind that. I'm usually fairly good furr taking pills.

We are pretty sure G.T. will outsmart Maw yet another time.
There ought to be tuna flavored benadryl. I am sure that if there was there would be no reaction..
I put up an article yesterday and today on House Panthers dealing with the effects of music on cats. Not saying it would work on your puddin' but the article does specifically deal with a cat who hated her daily meds until they started playing soothing music for her. Might be worth a try.
oh dear oh dear, poor kitty! I hope he is ok with his jabs, surely they can't be as bad as the pilling? I am pretty dreadful when I get 'pilled' too so i totally understand.x
When we have to take a pill, Mom crushes it between 2 spoons and scoops it into a syringe. Then she draws up some warm water, just enough to disolve the pill. Then she just squirts it in the side of our mouth. Easy! No trauma to us, or to Mom.
Our new Georgia vet was a bit skeptical when Mom asked for a syringe, until he understood she didn't need the needle part.
G.T. really has his mind set against getting medicated! Too bad there is no beef, etc flavoured medicationd for him !!
Purrs for Maw!!

Whoa, G.T. is one tough dude. Momma says she's a "master cat-piller." And she says it like that's something to be proud of. Ugh.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
Mom is really good at pilling Zippy and Speedy cuz dey just out and out fight and she's good at subdooing dat but Sadie just wiggles and twists and she's SLIPPERY so dad holds her and mom shoves what ever it is down her throat. We don't know what mom would do wif a fighting wiggle kitty! Oh, and Sadie is really good about he shots...mom always tells dad "see, it's easy" but dad won't even give himself his insulation so mom hasta shoot him too!
Medicines? Yucky - pwewy pffft!
I tink da suggesshun abouts da mousie flavor pill waz a good one. I don'ts tink I would likes pillz too much. I haz had to takes drops before when da rack-koon bit my butt. But dat waz a long time ago.
Poor GT! I'm not easy to pill either, I run all over the house. Kavan, on the other hand, has been getting pills since he was very little, so he is used to it!

Poor GT - we hope he does better with the medicine next month. We are sorry he was so scared at the VETs. That isn't any fun.

Poor G.T. and poor Maw, having to give him his medicine. I am afraid I am anticipating a very sticky mess with cherry flavored liquid Benadryl. Maybe if G.T. dribbles it down his chest, he will lick it off.
Just thinking about trying to do that gives me the heebie jeebies. Putting it on his paw might make him lick it off. I wish you tons of luck with this effort.
