Thursday Noos

So Maw's neurology appointment is later this afternoon. The tests she had done the other day were the ultrasound of the carotid arteries and the heart. She didn't get any information from that stuff. Maw is assuming that a certain OTC nasal drug she was taking might have led to the stroke. Maw does tend to have higher vulnerabilities to medicines than other people tend to have at times. Maw is very lucky that the stroke was not as acute as it could have been.

Oh, that is something else that went away with Maw's speech abilities; her appetite. She has had very little appetite since having the stroke. It's slowly coming back, about like her speaking abilities. Strokes are very unusual.

Poor ol' Orinch has been hanging around our house a lot lately. He's been crashing on the patio right up against the house. We guess wherever he used to stay is now off-limits for him.

So we've still got a ton of tomatoes that Maw is going to make into a huge stockpot full of Marinara Sauce and then freeze it. All of the tomatoes came due very early because of the hot flash we had beginning in May, and now the tomatoes are about gone. Of course, if Maw were out there watering every day and fertilizing the plants, then she might get some more, but right now she doesn't feel like messing with them. It's too hot and Maw doesn't like it when it's that hot outside!

Oh! And Maw finished up the last book about Norton, Peter Gethers Scottish Fold cat. She had never even heard about Norton before seeing the first 2 books on ML & Deb's auction sites for special poodin needs. So she borrowed the books from the local library and read all 3 of them. The Cat Who Went to Paris, A Cat Abroad, and The Cat Who'll Live Forever. The last book made Maw cry and cry when she finished it last night.

So that's all Maw can think of to write about for now. Ok?

We sure hope your Mom's all better soon! Our Grampy plants all kinds of stuff in his garden. We don't know why 'cause then he gives them all away to neighbors, even the one with the big mean woofie!

Best wishes for your Maw with her neurologist appointment today. You haven't mentioned this, but have any of her doctors said if some type(s) of therapy might help her get back what she lost?
I hope your Maw only gets good news today :-)

we have a special stroke center at our hospital and a nurse told me a similar story to yours and mentioned a nasal drug! So I really think that may have been something. Of course the drug companies don;t want us to connect these things, and they are extremely powerful

people should be wary of nasal drugs--of all RX drugs and how they interact with foods and dosages. I am very susceptible so I've always been wary.

My Food Lady thinks that your tomatoes and Marinara Sauce sound delicious - so do I! I love tomatoes and always get to lick the can when my Food Lady opens one - yum!

So good to hear that things are improving. I can't read books or see movies about animals because I start crying at the beginning and cry through the whole damned thing.

Happy 4th!
