Jenny is mostly still feral. She was captured at about 3 or 4 months old when she lived in a feral colony, and has never gotten used to being handled. Hence, the difficulty with catching her for V-E-T visits. That's why she's only been maybe 5 times to the V-E-T in the 14 years she has been here.
One time Maw brought home ringworm on the clothes she was wearing when she was cleaning cages for the humane group she worked with and didn't know that she had it on her. Hence, several poodins in this house caught ringworm, including Jenny. Maw managed to put cream on Jenny one time. That was it. Jenny self-cured over about 6 months. Jenny has never been treated for any type of illness (thank goodness) since she has lived here.
We know that the methimazole doesn't taste and is extremely small, so we are hoping that we can get Jenny to take it in treats. We hope. The V-E-T did offer to make the transdermal cream, but we wouldn't be able to put that on her so that won't work.
In udder noos, we haf da noo motor that arrived yestday for owr udder fountain, so now weze hast 2 fountains agin. Yeah!

Jenny's V-E-T Visit
Jenny's V-E-T visit was interesting. The V-E-T was trying to give her minimal amounts of anesthesia to knock her under since Jenny is 14 now, but Jenny is kinda strong and was very resistant to going under. Finally she went under and they did there work, and then they were pulling her blood but she woke up immediately after the gas was turned off, so they didn't really get enough so they just ran thyroid and kidney level tests. She does have a hyperthyroid so she needs the pills, which would explain her weight loss over the last couple of years. We'll have to see if she will take the pills in treats. Let's hope she does!

Tabby Tuesday
Here is a loverly pichur of Jenny at ChrissyMouse time. Yes, we caught her yestday with a few bites and bruises. She did NOT want to be caught. Luckily, Paw had the day off and helped Maw capture the poor Jenny. Poor ol' Jenny was not happy and was not at all enthusiastic about being left at the V-E-T overnight. And, her teeth reeeeely didn't need to be cleaned, but Maw said she wouldn't be able to capture Jenny again for a few more yeers, so the doc better kleen those toofies while she had the chance. And poor ol' Jenny has lost 3 lbs. of weight since she was at the other V-E-T several years back and that has Maw a bit concerned. So Jenny will get a full bloodcount done to see if anything is abnormal or if she has just lost weight because of her age. And, the V-E-T will also trim poor ol' Jenny's toenails while she is knocked out because those only get trimmed once every three or four yeers also.

Mancat Monday
Here is Dorf, testing out a Ham-Mick prior to shipment. We are noticing Dorf's eyesight is getting worse. He is having trouble jumping onto chairs and couches and occasionally misses them at this time. His brother, G.T., is also picking on him more.

Today is the day to try and catch Jenny for the V-E-T consultation, again. Wish us luck!

Relaxing Indoors
Paw thanks efurrybody who wished him a wondermos Purrfday. He was ever so happy!
So its been really hot here and plans to stay that way! Yuck. It's supposed to be between 100F and 105F each day this week. And the night-time temps in the 80Fs, so we are under a heat advisory. Last year was SO NICE with all the cool temps and rainy weather that we had.
Bow does like to go out in the enclosure though. He always has liked the outdoor weather when its in the 80s so he stays out most of the night. Then he comes in and flops in the front window in a Ham-Mick. Then by late afternoon, he moves to his heated bed or Ham-Mick and switches between those two all evening. He's moving more slowly and is having trouble with his balance from his kidney problems. Luckily his appetite is good because of the meds he is taking.

Friday Noos
So Maw swallowed the kamra yestday. She was very very very dry before the procedure. Having an embedded sinus infection can make a person drink tons of water, and she drinks tons of water prior to sinus infection anyway, so yes, she was very very very dry. They told her that she could have water and food as soon as she woke up, and they explained that it was a very mild sedation so that she would wake up as soon as it was over. And indeed, she woke up and was eating a late lunch with 4 bottles of water thank you very much... And the doctor told Paw there was nothing to prove that the heart was the culprit of the stroke. See? Maw still thinks it was the meds.
So Maw still needz to see da neurology dude agin. Tings are still improving an her speech is much better, but along come evening and she has more truble talking an finding proper words. But it is much bedder.
In udder noos, the remaining L-phant at da Dallassssss Zoo lost it's friend, anudder L-phant dis spring. Well, the remaining L-phant has been at da Dallasssssss Zoo fur 22 yeers an peeple haf petitioned to haf her shipped off to the Tennessee L-phant sanctuary. But da big nutz in Dallasssssss found a Mexican petting zoo where Jenny culd go dat they want to send her to. Many many many peeple are petitioning fur Jenny to go to Tennessee becuz she will be with udder African L-phants, in a huge enclosure with tons of ruum. In Mexico, she will haf like 4 acres and an Asian L-phant. Well, duh. So, peeple are writing to da Mayor an da Dallas Morning Noospaper an to da Zoo an der will be a peaceful petition at da Dallassssss Zoo on Sunday. Maw werked as a Keeper Aide in Large Mammals one year and that was when Jenny was on 40 pills of Ace for her acting out and attacking the other L-phant (Vasha) who used to lif der but who was shipped off to Disney World later. Anyway, Jenny should go to Tennessee. That's all we haf to say about that.

So today, Maw needs to order a new motor for OUR Drinkwell Platinum fountain that she broke last night while cleaning the fountains. Luckily, she found the website that makes the Drinkwell fountains and found the part and can order it rather than spending the $60 to get a new fountain. Maw duzn't like to waste parts.
It was 102F here yesterday. That was hot.
We are sorry to hear that Mu Shue has crossed the bridge. He was such a loving poodin and will be sorely missed.

Gatsbi's 9th Purrfday!!
Today is Gatsbi's 9th Purrfday!!! Happy Purrfday to Gatsbi!!! (Pee Ess: She's a girl...)

In udder noos, Jenny did not make it to the V-E-T yesterday. She wasn't sleeping in the bedroom windowsill, but was out in the living area. No way to catch her in the living area. So, Gatsbi went in and had her vaccinations done and came back home because her teeth were just done last fall. So, we'll try for Jenny next Monday/Tuesday! And if we can't catch Jenny next Monday, then we'll take Dorf in for his vaccinations. He doesn't have any teeth...

WomanCat Monday
Annie decided to overturn the box of PVC elbows that Maw makes Ham-Micks from at 6:30am this morning. It was very noisy. Luckily, everyone was already awake.

Jenny is scheduled for a V-E-T visit this afternoon. Hopefully, Maw can nab her and take her in. Maw is afraid that her teef might be bothering her some because she is losing weight and has become very vocal over the last year. Jenny is mostly still feral, and it is difficult to catch her. So Jenny will stay overnight at the clinic and get her teef done tomorrow. Jenny is 13-years-old and has only seen a V-E-T a few times because she is so difficult to catch. Jenny never gets any take-home medicine because she can't be medicated at home.

Dood, It Didn't Happen
So like Maw had too much water this morning and they like canceled her camera swallowing maneuver. Can you guys believe that? Yup. That's what they did. She's like, "OMDawg." So now they have rescheduled her for next Thursday. OMDawg.
So her neurologist told her that so far all her test results have come back as AOK, nothing wrong, no major problems with any of the parts that normally cause a stroke. Maw still thinks it was the OTC medicine she was taking for her sinus infection that the other doctor suggested she try. Yup. That she does.
Ok, it is still really hot here. Some of you have written about your loverly cooler temps and we are in envy. Yup. We are. Maw is ripping out her tomato and cucumber plants because she is tired of messing with them. The bell peppers are producing like crazy, so she will leave them alone. She did make a big ol' batch of marinara from the tomatoes she had on hand and froze it. She had given away quite a few batches of fresh tomatoes and people were quite envious especially with the lack of good tomato products on the store shelves these days. What with the e-coli and such.
Good ol' Orinch is still hanging around here most days. Poor ol' guy hangs around on the patio or out in the yard. Orinch #2 appeared last night for dinner. He is very thin. Bob shows up every once in awhile.

Reno and Dorf Bellies & Monday Noos

So, Orinch 1 and Orinch 2 have been around here lately. Orinch #2 looks just about exactly like Orinch #1, but a shade darker. Remember when Maw saw Orinch #2 a few months back? Well, Orinch #2 showed up twice in the last week. The reason Maw knows that it is Orinch #2 is because Orinch #1 and Orinch #2 both stand in the backyard and complain to each other. So there you go. Orinch #1 still hangs around here daily and lies on the patio during the warm parts of the day, and takes off running when Maw goes outside. He really is a cutie pie.
Ok, so Maw saw the neurologist on Thursday and he was really quite surprised that Maw had such a large stroke and yet managed to not have the neurological issues that many people have. He was also surprised that she found out she had a stroke because she went back to the doctor and complained about a sinus problem. He's like, "You didn't know that something was wrong?" Maw was like, "Well, I thought it was all because of my sinus problems." So there you go.
So, he's like ok, we're going to get a ton of tests done here. First off, a bunch of various blood tests which Maw completed this AM under a fasting diet. She dropped off 14 tubes of blood at the blood joint. They are going to test Maw for like EVERYTHING. And then tomorrow she is getting a test done at the place where she had her CT Scan and MRI Scan and this will be a MRA Scan of her brain and carotid arteries. Also, if the test comes back from the sonograms as AOK, then Maw has to be sedated and somehow they are going to stick a camera inside her and take pictures of the underneath portion of her heart. Loverly.
And the neurologist also is sending her to a speech therapist. Maw read on the internet that many of the functions created by a stroke are often rectified within 3 months of the stroke. Maw's speech is getting better, but she still has problems with writing. Maw will write something and go back and read it and say, "What did I want to say?" Strokes are very difficult and Maw is extremely lucky that hers did not mess her up too much. Hopefully the doctor can figure out what happened to her.
Ok, so efurrybody got their toes trimmed yesterday except for Sally who stayed out in the cage most of the day. But we'll get her soon.

Thursday Noos
So Maw's neurology appointment is later this afternoon. The tests she had done the other day were the ultrasound of the carotid arteries and the heart. She didn't get any information from that stuff. Maw is assuming that a certain OTC nasal drug she was taking might have led to the stroke. Maw does tend to have higher vulnerabilities to medicines than other people tend to have at times. Maw is very lucky that the stroke was not as acute as it could have been.
Oh, that is something else that went away with Maw's speech abilities; her appetite. She has had very little appetite since having the stroke. It's slowly coming back, about like her speaking abilities. Strokes are very unusual.
Poor ol' Orinch has been hanging around our house a lot lately. He's been crashing on the patio right up against the house. We guess wherever he used to stay is now off-limits for him.
So we've still got a ton of tomatoes that Maw is going to make into a huge stockpot full of Marinara Sauce and then freeze it. All of the tomatoes came due very early because of the hot flash we had beginning in May, and now the tomatoes are about gone. Of course, if Maw were out there watering every day and fertilizing the plants, then she might get some more, but right now she doesn't feel like messing with them. It's too hot and Maw doesn't like it when it's that hot outside!
Oh! And Maw finished up the last book about Norton, Peter Gethers Scottish Fold cat. She had never even heard about Norton before seeing the first 2 books on ML & Deb's auction sites for special poodin needs. So she borrowed the books from the local library and read all 3 of them. The Cat Who Went to Paris, A Cat Abroad, and The Cat Who'll Live Forever. The last book made Maw cry and cry when she finished it last night.
So that's all Maw can think of to write about for now. Ok?
