Wordy Wednesday

So, we seem to have an old fashioned cat cold among the troops here. Smokey started out with it, and it has moved on to Jenny and G.T. Smokey has been sneezing and sneezing, and honest to goodness, green globbers hang off the poor guy's nose. He hates to have his globbers pulled off. Jenny gets into a good sneezing batch and has watery eyes also. And G.T. sneezes occasionally and has a cough going.

And when Maw cleans and fills the litter boxes and makes them a bit too full, we tend to have out of litter box experiences. This has been fun over the past week because all the clumping boxes have been scrubbed and refilled and we are having mega OLBE. Maw is so thrilled.

Orinch 1 has been hanging around a lot anymore. He seems to sleep on the roof under the patio cover and appears each morning when Maw fills the food bowl on the patio. He's very friendly to the other cats, but not overly friendly to the beans.

That's all.

Toosday Noosday

G.T. received his shots today for his allergies. One benadryl shot and one allergy viral shot.

Yesterday and today have been gorgeous in North Texas. Lovely, OPEN WINDOW weather! The first time since May that we have had OPEN WINDOWS!!!!!! Whoo hoo!!

We have been watching the daily noos stashun outta Houston showing all of the activities and such going on down there. Thank goodness things seem to be a lot more organized than during Rita and Katrina. They are also now allowing people from Galveston Island to temporarily return to the Island and check out their residence, but then they must leave. It is not safe there, there is no electricity, no water, no food, no plumbing. And mosquitoes are out in extremely high numbers in the flooded areas.

In udder noos, Mom went to a website and did a Sarah Palin name generator. This is what she came up with: Charcoal Sniper Palin. Interesting. Go here and you can get a new name too: Check it out!!

So Paw came down with a cold last week, and now Maw's sinus infections have kicked back in. She can't have her surgery until it has been 6 months since her stroke. So she still has to wait another 2 months. So anytime a cold comes along, it goes into a sinus infection because of the embedded infection inside her head parts. Yuck.

That's all for now.

Farewell Pixie

We shall dearly miss sweet Pixie. She had Feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy for over 6 years now. She loved bananers daily in her food.

Bye from all of us. We shall see you at The Rainbow Bridge.

Photo Hunt #52

This week's Photo Hunters is "wild". We're showcasing Dorf, sitting in a wheelbarrow, preparing to help Maw with nighttime gardening.

In udder noos, a tiny band of rainspots came through here around 8:30am this morning, but so far this area hasn't seen a lot. Other parts of North Texas are seeing some of Ike, but not this district, yet.

Friday Stuff and Awards

The Island Cats, Zoey, Ernie and Wally passed along these wonderful awards to us. We are furried honored to receive these loverly awards!

Efurrybody is invited to take these awards and display them proudly!

In udder noos, Ike is still out there looming and beginning to push in some larger waves onto the island communities. Maw is watching the local Houston news via the cable noos network. The weather people here in North Texas still show that Dallas should get some tropical storm winds and rain from 3" to 6" tomorrow through Sunday morning. So, we shall see. Maw is going outside now to mow the grass.

Someone had a pee accident on the chair covering this morning. Paw figures it was Obi again, so Maw put him back on the anti-anxiety pills. His eyes were leaking very badly when he was on them last time, so Maw has to watch and see if that happens again. One thing for sure, he is very mellow when on the pills.

Ok. Let's send tons of hugs and purrs to KC and efurrybody else along the Texas coastline, ok?

Today is Thursday

Today it is supposed to be pretty much non-rainy here over North Texas. It has rained here for a few days and Maw is totally alright with that because rain is aok. And crazy ol' Hurricane Ike keeps moving more and more to the north and the direction of its path keeps moving further east as it gets on land. The news is saying that we could get tropical storm style winds and heavy downpours, but we kinda think that will be further east of here. Whatever.

So, we really hope that people like KC and her family are aok in Galveston and taking proper precautions and anyone else in that area takes proper precautions and buttons themselves down against the hurricane.

Nail Trimming and Underarm Trimming

Today is the monthly nail trimming. It has also become apparent to Maw that Obi has some of those underarm mats stuck in his fur parts. Not good. So Maw must also approach these areas with trimming utensils as well. Wish us luck. Of course, Reno is always the first to get nabbed because otherwise he goes into deep hiding.

Recipe for Blueberry Cobbler

This is a Heart-Healthy recipe for Blueberry Cobbler. Not like those sinfully rich deep fat, atrociously delicious Peach Cobblers of our mom's day.

Ingredients:
2/3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt, if desired
2/3 c. skim milk
2 teaspoons canola margarine, melted
2 c. blueberries, cleaned and washed

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in the milk and mix the batter until it is smooth.

Using the melted margarine, grease the inside of a 1-quart casserole dish. Pour in the batter and sprinkle with blueberries over the top.

Bake the cobbler for 40-45 minutes, or until lightly browned.
