Sunday Noos

Yesterday morning, Maw spied Opie the Opossum walk right across our backyard and start chomping on Orinch & Bob(bie)'s food. So Paw got some really great pictures of him nom-nomming on the food. (The food dish sits in a bowl of water so the ants can't get to the food.)

Several poodins expressed concern about Smokey's Krissmouse stocking hanging directly on the fireplace doors. Such as Miss Peach's concern that it would catch on fire. Well, we haven't had a fire in our fireplace in several years. Actually, Maw has been looking for a good chimney sweep to come and clean and inspect the chimney for a couple of months. They are very busy at this time of year and she only wants to use one that is on Angie's List.

Funny thing about fireplaces here in the DFW metroplex. Most every home built since the 70s has at least one. The average temperatures for this area in December and January are lower 50s for the highs and lower 30s for the lows. High-end homes, luxury homes, estates, whatever you wanna call them, now seem to have multiple fireplaces, adding them to the master bedroom suites and to the breakfast rooms, and even on the patios where the patios are being built as an entertaining destination with fireplaces, built in grills, sinks and refrigeration. On Christmas Eve, when driving anyplace in the metroplex, there is the smell of wood burning and a smokey haze hangs in the air because everyone is using their fireplaces regardless of the outside temperature. It's kinda funny.

Eric & Flynn were concerned that we would need to open the doors so that Sandy Paws could come out to deliver his presents. So, we will move Smokey's stocking on Christmas Eve so that the doors can be opened.

We thank everyone for their concern and helpful hints. We don't know what we would do without all of our furriends from the cat blogosphere!

Opie looks very cute. I wish we had a fireplace. I really enjoyed the fireplace in the chalet we stayed in on our trip to Switzerland last February.

Opie looks like a youngster! I am glad that you will open the doors for Santa - you wouldn't want him to get trapped behind the doors with all of his goodies!

That Opie has a very funny nose - it's longer than mine!

I hope you find a good chimney sweep!

That is funny about the weather here and the fireplaces - the same in California, I hear. When we move to NC, we might actually need one of those, which will be weird for me, because I've never had one. Tomcat's from Buffalo, so he's looking forward to it.

Leaves sound like fun - I'll be right over! Thanks!

We have a gas fireplace too. Our highs and lows are a bit chillier than yours I think and we are damp, so the fire is nice!

We don't have one of those fire things and Santa always comes here. So he gets around and into houses without fireplaces.

When I worked for the wildlife hospital I raised an orphan opie with the three cats I had a that time. When the opie would walk around in the living room, the three cats would walk in single file behind her. It was like an opie/cats parade.

We have a gas fireplace and Santa con't get in that way. Mommie said Santa has a magic key for those houses and he tries not to track mud in the house. Sometimes the reindeers do though. Once they got the carpet all dirty.

We have a lot of those fancy schmancy homes around here and they must need a lot of chimney sweeping done.

Happy Day to all of you

Our kitty furrend Max has an Opie he (unwillingly) shares his food with. Yours is cuter though.

We know an excellent chimney sweep guy, but he lives in Northern California. He's our Lady's sister's husband and sometimes he even dresses in the chimney sweep outfit, just like in Mary Poppins.

That Opie is kyoot, we would probly like to meet him.
Our fire is a woodburner and it duzn't go out all winter. Sandy Paws would git a bit hot coming down our chimney, but mum sez he probly comes in the catflap.
