Good grief was there a lot of yakking last night! Yak everywhere! Maybe the snow upset the poodins and they had to yak. Yes, it snowed here. Several inches as a matter of fact. It's melting fast and will probably be gone by noon.
We told you we were changing V-E-Ts. There are several reasons for this. Maw has changed V-E-Ts 7 times in the 20 years she has lived here. For one thing, she worked for 3 different V-E-Ts. Anyway, there has been a hyooooj personnel turnover at our regular V-E-T, and the practice keeps growing which is a really good thing for the clinic owners, but not so good for the clients. The parking lot is totally full sometimes. Maw liked it when all the receptionists and the techs knew who she was, and knew each of us poodins. Maw figures since there are 10 of us, and she spends thousands of green paypers there each year, then it would be really nice if they knew who she was. And when she took Bow in for his checkup in January and the V-E-T said he was diabetic, and Maw had to change his diet and change his medicine and bring him back in 3 weeks, Maw didn't believe he was diabetic. And so she scheduled his recheck, but the receptionist said that a tech could see Bow, and Maw said the doctor wanted to see Bow, but the receptionist said that she checked and the doctor didn't need to see Bow. But Maw insisted that the V-E-T see Bow.
And then when Maw tried to buy more Purina OM for Gatsbi, she was told that the office manager said they had never carried OM, so Maw asked then how in the bejeebers did she purchase a bag of it in January???? And then, having to re-educate all the receptionists and technicians each time Maw schedules one of us for dentals because we board overnight so that the other 9 poodins don't have to go without food and water. This always causes SO MUCH CONFUSION and Maw is SO TIRED OF THAT. How difficult is that anyway?
So, there is a new poodin only clinic and Maw went to check them out and consulted with the V-E-T and it's a very small, personalized practice. They knew everyone who was coming in, and the best part is that the V-E-T actually intubates and performs the dentals. She doesn't sedate the poodin and turn it over to a tech. Lots of you probably don't know this, but many V-E-Ts don't do the dentals on your animals. They sedate the animal, then let the technicians do the cleaning. And, many vets don't intubate. They sedate with an injection only and no mechanical breathing with anesthesia is used. Intubation is required by vets belonging to the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association), but not all vets belong to AAHA.
So, Maw is furry impressed with this poodin only V-E-T and now we all get to go there and meet her and her staff. Uh, we don't know if we like that part of it....

Good for Maw! With the poodin problems you have it is very important that the vet & techs know all of you. It saves a lot of time and you don't have to 'splain it everytime you go in.
Hope the Yakfest is over!
What a good Maw you have! We are super super lucky that our VET practice is small and has known all of our Ones who Came Before for 30 years. They don't always recognize Meowmy's name but they ALL know my name hehe. I spent a lot of time there 2 years ago. Meowmy thinks they should know who you are for all of the money you spend. She wishes she could have our VET as her human VET.

It sounds like Maw has found the perfect V-E-T! We go to a pretty large practice too, but I think we would prefer a smaller one.
I have to say . . . you have a great MAW!!!!! WOOHOO!!! Mommy is very impressed. She wishes their was a poodin specialist type in our area . . . we are having the same problems with our normal V-E-T.
Your maw rocks! Even though you're gonna have to go meet the new V-E-T.
Thanks for the info on the dental cleaning. That makes Momma real mad that she didn't know that. :/
Love,
McTazo
Can you believe we got snow last night?? Mom tried to take me outside to put my toes in it but I was really really scared! Plus it was just too cold!

Those people at the other place are great big Losers. How stoopid can you get, to not take REALLY GOOD CARE of a client like you, and all your sweet puddins?
That's great about your new find - lucky people!
I am glad your Mum found a new Vet in a smaller practice.
My Mum is thinking of changing Vet's too. The current one is very impersonal and when I had diarhea last year he ordered all these very expensive tests right away, which showed nothing. Mum ended up figuring out it was a food problem by herself.
We are glad Maw has found a good
V E T furr all of you.Our V E T used to be furry good and he looked after mum's horses as well as us. He wuz furry kind and caring, but then he moved up country. Mum still uses the same practice, but there are always new V E Ts coming and going now. Mum wishes she could find a poodin only practice.
No yakking tonight pleez. Yer Maw needs her sleep.
We just had a visual of ALL of you going in to meet the new V-E-T and the staff. ALL at once. Now that would be something for a Movie Monday!
Maw that sounds like you is doing a good job lookin after the gang by getting a new vet. Mine VET is very nice to me, she mainly has cats and a few woofies, buns and other small animabls to look after.
You are right, with 10 in the house you must be spending a bit of money with them. If you settle into the new place ok, maybe you should write your old vets a letter letting them know why you changed.
My vet does nice things, like ring a couple of days after you has gone home, to check you is ok, and when Puss angel went to the bridge, they all wrote in a card and signed it and sent it to my mum.
It's important to feel comfortable and have confidence with your V E T and their staff and feel like they all know what they're doing. I know it doesn't give me confidence when the support staff doesn't know what they're doing or does not try to be helpful.
Where we go there's a few V E Ts. I like 2 of them, 1 really well and prefer to only see him. There's one vet on staff we saw that I would never ever see again. She was horrible. I'll go to the other vet nearby us (which we 've used in emergencies when our regular vet was closed or couldn't get us in that day) before I'd ever take one of our pets to have her examine them.
If I didn't like the 1 vet so much where we've been going so long, I probably would switch to the vet closer to us. She is very good.
It sounds like Maw founded a good vet fur yoo guys, even if dey is still gonna torture yoo. We go to a nice clinic dat belongs to AAHA. We don't know what is considered a large practice, our clinic has 3 vets and all da same techs and reception beans dat haf been der furever. Dey offer holistic stuff and accupuncture too!
We go to a cats only vet and have been happy with it. We've only been there for shots and to be fixed, but they know which of us is which right away so we think that is a good thing. We went to another vet once that kept calling Kesey a "she". Mom says if a vet can't tell if a dog is a boy, they shouldn't be a vet.
Vincent's cancer vet intubated him for all of his radiation treatments. She said if you did it the other way he might forget to breathe (kitties do that).
Good luck with your new vet!
I tis important to have a v-e-t that you are comfortable with...well that your beans are comfortable with. I think that is why Meowm changed mine lately. Our new v-e-t place is an animal hospital and we think that the
v-e-t actually did my teeth this last time...we will have to check out the intubation thing.
Good one Maw! You (and the Forty Paws) certainly voted with your feet on what you like in a V-E-T practice. It sounds like it's gonna be a lot easier on everyone (and cat) at the new place.
