So where is the Yak?

So when some furrybody yaks in the middle of the night, Maw doesn't get up to clean it up anymore. She waits until the morning. Trouble is, you know how when a poodin yaks, it usually comes out in 3 yak-a-roos. So last night, somebody yakked, and Maw knew it was close by. Then they left the immediate area and went and did the additional 2 yak-a-roos. So Maw found the close-by yak-a-roo when she got up. She still hasn't found the additional 2 yak-a-roos. Do you guys do this sort of thing?

Tuesday at da Casa Forty Paws

Good grief was there a lot of yakking last night! Yak everywhere! Maybe the snow upset the poodins and they had to yak. Yes, it snowed here. Several inches as a matter of fact. It's melting fast and will probably be gone by noon.

We told you we were changing V-E-Ts. There are several reasons for this. Maw has changed V-E-Ts 7 times in the 20 years she has lived here. For one thing, she worked for 3 different V-E-Ts. Anyway, there has been a hyooooj personnel turnover at our regular V-E-T, and the practice keeps growing which is a really good thing for the clinic owners, but not so good for the clients. The parking lot is totally full sometimes. Maw liked it when all the receptionists and the techs knew who she was, and knew each of us poodins. Maw figures since there are 10 of us, and she spends thousands of green paypers there each year, then it would be really nice if they knew who she was. And when she took Bow in for his checkup in January and the V-E-T said he was diabetic, and Maw had to change his diet and change his medicine and bring him back in 3 weeks, Maw didn't believe he was diabetic. And so she scheduled his recheck, but the receptionist said that a tech could see Bow, and Maw said the doctor wanted to see Bow, but the receptionist said that she checked and the doctor didn't need to see Bow. But Maw insisted that the V-E-T see Bow.
And then when Maw tried to buy more Purina OM for Gatsbi, she was told that the office manager said they had never carried OM, so Maw asked then how in the bejeebers did she purchase a bag of it in January???? And then, having to re-educate all the receptionists and technicians each time Maw schedules one of us for dentals because we board overnight so that the other 9 poodins don't have to go without food and water. This always causes SO MUCH CONFUSION and Maw is SO TIRED OF THAT. How difficult is that anyway?

So, there is a new poodin only clinic and Maw went to check them out and consulted with the V-E-T and it's a very small, personalized practice. They knew everyone who was coming in, and the best part is that the V-E-T actually intubates and performs the dentals. She doesn't sedate the poodin and turn it over to a tech. Lots of you probably don't know this, but many V-E-Ts don't do the dentals on your animals. They sedate the animal, then let the technicians do the cleaning. And, many vets don't intubate. They sedate with an injection only and no mechanical breathing with anesthesia is used. Intubation is required by vets belonging to the AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association), but not all vets belong to AAHA.

So, Maw is furry impressed with this poodin only V-E-T and now we all get to go there and meet her and her staff. Uh, we don't know if we like that part of it....
