Toosday Noosday

Well, we were very saddened to hear that Caesar passed over the bridge Sunday morning while sleeping with his dear sister Prinnie. We hadn't been on the blogosphere Sunday, so we didn't find out until yesterday morning. We are all sending lots of headbutts and purrs to Rosemary and her family and snuggles to Princess.

In udder noos, last week Bow had his old geezer blood tests. They came back showing that he is likely going diabetic. So the vet ran the fructosamine blood test which measures the average level of glucose control over the past several weeks. This was high also. So the vet told Maw to get Bow onto a canned food diet of M/D, or D/M or W/D only. Well, Bow doesn't like canned food. And for about the last 6 months, he has been begging for treats ALL THE TIME. So he has been getting lots of treats. And the vet told Maw to try and get Bow cut back on the amount of prednisolone he takes for his eosonophilic gastritis and enteritis. Well, Maw tried the canned foods and Bow is like, "Are you kidding me?" And she has cut his pred in half so that he is getting 2.5mg daily instead of 5mg and so far he hasn't yakked, knock on wood. And he has been cut cold turkey off his treats. Maw wants to retest his blood in a few weeks to see how he's doing without all those treats. Bow was once diagnosed with having hyperthyroidism and was on meds for a couple of years for that, and then he went to get the radiology treatment for it and they found out that his thyroids were just fine. So Maw doesn't want to jump to conclusions just yet on diabetes.

Maw bought us new grooming tools last week. Since many of you poodins luf your Zoom Grooms and your Furminators, Maw got us those. She also bought a "curry comb" (that's what she said it's called when you use it on a horse). And she bought this weird comb for Obi cause he's long haired. Anyway, the fur has been seriously flying around here. Most all of us luf the Zoom Groom. Some of us luf the Furminator. G.T. lufs anything because he is the ultimate brush whore.

Speaking of G.T. Sunday night, Maw gave him his monthly allergy shot. Then he started yakking. And he yakked for half an hour. There was yak in every room of the house. And Paw slept through the whole thing! So Maw calls the dermatologist yesterday and now they want G.T. to get 12.5mg of Benadryl 1/2 hour prior to his injection. Yeah, right. G.T. is an incredibly difficult cat to pill. And he doesn't like Pill Pockets. So Maw is gonna see if she can hide the pill in a piece of Costco salmon cake or a piece of Albertson's roast Chick-Hen. Because G.T. LOVES both of those. And he has an increased injection schedule over the next couple of months to get him desensitized again. Good grief. This is gonna be fun....

Last night, Reno fell in Maw's bath water. He was trying to jump to the window sill because either Bob(bie) or Orinch were outside. He missed and fell in. Luckily, Maw was not in the tub yet or she would have gotten all kinds of scratched up.

Finally, Maw has her ann-yool sinus infection and is on her second round of aunty-bi-ot-iks. But they are tearing up her tumbly and she is FURRY ill. So we hasn't been getting around to all your blogs. Sorry efurrybody. Weze trying!

Wow! It's amazing to find a house that has more kitties than ours. We only have nine kitties here but that's enough if you ask me.

I hope everyone who is sick feels better soon.

You sure do have lots going on at your house! It must be so hard to try to give a special diet to one cat when there are 9 other cats to get into it. I sure hope your mom is feeling better soon.

I hope those changes bring Bow's blood sugar levels down. It sounds like your Maw's got her hands full, taking care of kitties and herself! Benadryl does come in children's liquid. It's an alternative if she can't get a pill in GT. Of course, I'd check with the vet first. In liquid form it might work quicker and stronger.

I hope your Maw is feeling all better soon.

Holy Bast! You kitties and beans have a lot of things going on.

Just what Maw needed, right? More special diets, more pills, and more shots.

Glad to know everyone is still hanging in.

We love our Zoom Groom and Shaggy really loves the Furminator!!! Mom says she can't wait until she can get outside and let the fur fly out there instead of in the house.
