More on Jenny's V-E-T Visit

Jenny is mostly still feral. She was captured at about 3 or 4 months old when she lived in a feral colony, and has never gotten used to being handled. Hence, the difficulty with catching her for V-E-T visits. That's why she's only been maybe 5 times to the V-E-T in the 14 years she has been here.

One time Maw brought home ringworm on the clothes she was wearing when she was cleaning cages for the humane group she worked with and didn't know that she had it on her. Hence, several poodins in this house caught ringworm, including Jenny. Maw managed to put cream on Jenny one time. That was it. Jenny self-cured over about 6 months. Jenny has never been treated for any type of illness (thank goodness) since she has lived here.

We know that the methimazole doesn't taste and is extremely small, so we are hoping that we can get Jenny to take it in treats. We hope. The V-E-T did offer to make the transdermal cream, but we wouldn't be able to put that on her so that won't work.

In udder noos, we haf da noo motor that arrived yestday for owr udder fountain, so now weze hast 2 fountains agin. Yeah!

Poor Jenny. No kitties like to take medicines. We hope she'll eat it in a treat. That sounds like a good idea to us. We love treats.

I'm sorry Jenny has to take that stupid medicine. I have to go back to the vet today about my gums, and I'm a little bit worried ...

My Mommy did the same thing with the shelter ringworm in 2004 - it was awful and Powder caught it. She got dipped in Lyme twice and had to take VERY expensive medicine.
Lyme stinks. A lot. And it turned her yellow.
It was an awful summer at the shelter and Mommy still feels awful for bringing it home.
Anyway, I hope Jenny takes her medicine.

That's a really good thing she's been mostly healthy since she can't be handled. I hope she will take the medicine in her treats, so she'll gain some weight back :-)

I am so behind in your news - that darn Mum of mine has been so busy!

I am glad that your Mum's camera swallowing went okay. It must be hard to have trouble coming up with the right words etc. My Grandma had a stroke and said alot of the wrong words - good thing she had a good sense of humour because my Mum says sometimes you just had to laugh - Grandma would laugh most of all - wondering where the heck that word came from. My Mum says the funniest one the family always thinks of is when Grandma meant to say "Please pass the pepper shaker" and instead she said "Please pass the wooden leg". Ha, ha, ha...where the heck did that come from : )

Please tell your Mum we are thinking and purring for her.

I am glad that Jenny got to the Vet and managed okay. Jenny is so pretty.

Yay! We are glad your fountain got fixed and you get the bubbly kind again!!!
Poor Jenny, We would think that 14 years of good livin' would outweigh 4 month of feral. Thats too bad. Good luck Jenny with your meds! Be a good girl & cooperate!

It's good dat Jenny likes treats. Mom always wears coveralls at da shelter and takes dem off and shoves dem in a bag wif her "shelter shoes" and washes dem when she comes home. She learned dat from bringing home a nasty intestinal parasite to Punkin about 12 years ago. She even takes her coveralls to da t-shirt place and has dem print da Wisconsin Humane Society and der logo on da back and her name and "volunteer" on da front. Now lots of beans is doing da same thing. Can't be to careful ya know.

Poor Jenny. We know about the ringwork thing. I even had it when I was a baby and mom had to bath me regularly on top of that cream stuff.

Hope you are better soon.
