Skeery Saturday

This is the bulldozer that is excavating what used to be the field behind our house. We always knew there would be construction back there, but for 17 years it was only a field. This week it has been transformed from a place where prairie falcons dived on prey, and bunnies romped in the twilight hours and kids played fort or practiced hitting balls to a noisy construction site replete with a new fence surrounding the area, heavy machinery, lots of men in hard hats, and moving dirt. Luckily, the 8 ft. tall privacy fence shields us from a lot of this, but since the moving dirt is growing in size, the cats can see the bulldozer as it moves this dirt into taller and higher mountains. Annie sits on the bed and growls each time the bulldozer climbs the top of the mountain and comes into view just over the top of our fence. Gatsbi sits on the floor and ducks under the window when she sees the bulldozer crest the fence line.

And don't be jealous of the green in this picture. Those are mostly weeds. We've discovered that weeds do very well under drought conditions.

We think it's going to be a LONG summer for the cats and the beans at the Forty Paws....
